Three Key Elements To Your Golf Game

July 19, 2010 · Filed Under Golf Tips, Mental Golf

Tom Lehman reiterates and confirms once again what you and I already know.

  1. See it
  2. Feel it
  3. Trust it

See the shot, feel the shot, trust the shot…

When Lehman asked Pavin in the Ryder Cup years ago how to handle the pressure of nerves, Pavin told him point blankly to commit to the shot.

I invite you to be and do the same!

Over the weekend at The Open Championship, 5-time Open Champion Tom Watson told the story when he asked Byron Nelson if he ever gets nervous before his golf? “I was so nervous when I played professional golf I was jumping out of my skin,” Nelson. “Why did you retire,” Watson. “Tom, I got tired of throwing up before I played.”

We all have anxious, and nervous moments on the golf course. We can even allow negative thoughts to filter in.

I invite you to “be with” your nerves because what you look at, disappears.

And I invite you to shift your focus upon what you do want versus what you don’t want. Commit to that. Gradually you can reprogram your brain to be more positive by thinking healthier and better feeling thoughts. Embrace the process along the fairway of life.
